Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension
Nightwing #116, DC. I keep looking forward to every issue of Nightwing, even though I know each installment gets us closer to the end of Tom Taylor and co.’s wonderful run. This one promises a Dick/Deadman meeting and that’s always fun for these circus folk.
—
Amazing Spider-Man #258 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. A big turning point in Spidey lore — Peter Parker learns his new, black costume is an alien symbiote that wants to bond with him, and tries to get his head around the fact that Mary Jane knows he’s Spider-Man. Also, Peter becomes the Unknown Superhero, thanks to Johnny Storm! A groovy highlight of this yearlong Facsimile Edition run.
—
Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale Captain America Gallery Edition, Marvel. The fourth and final near-treasury-size hardcover collection of what was originally called Captain America: White.
—
Batman/Superman World’s Finest #29, DC. The finale of the mite arc… with Eclipso around the corner! (Woo hoo!)
—
Crisis on Infinite Earths #4 Facsimile Edition, DC. Some quieter moments mark this issue, which still features (of course) more multiversal armageddon. Check out Fred Van Lente’s COMIC BOOK DEATH MATCH: Secret Wars #4 vs. Crisis on Infinite Earths #4!
—
Absolute Batman and Son by Grant Morrison, DC. Morrison’s lengthy run on Batman was uneven. The highs were among the best stories I’ve ever read, the lows were moments of classic Morrisonian opacity. It also didn’t help that the flow was disrupted by DC events and the linewide New 52 reboot. This collection features three connected arcs that have similar ups and downs but if you’re all in on this era, I do recommended this.

Superman #16 and Wonder Woman #11 Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez DC Style Guide Variants, DC. Next up: the Man of Steel and the Amazing Amazon. Don’t forget — the 1982 DC Style Guide is coming in August!
—
Scott Tipton, columnist, 13th Dimension
Superman by Kurt Busiek Book 1, DC. A collection of Kurt Busiek’s wonderful Superman work, including the modern classic Secret Identity.
—
Captain America by Mark Gruenwald Omnibus Vol. 1, Marvel. Glad to see Mark Gruenwald’s Cap work getting the omnibus treatment. Well deserved.
—
Silver Surfer Epic Collection: Vol. 3 — Freedom, Marvel. It felt like a really big deal back in the ’80s when the Surfer finally managed to get off the planet and back to outer space.
Dan adds: With a healthy helping of Englehart and Rogers!

Somehow that run of The Silver Surfer wasn’t on my pull list in the day. I might have to check it out however seeing the list of creators there.

Do not sleep on the Silver Surfer epic collection. The Englehart-Rogers team on Surfer was short lived, but legendary.
