HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Alan Scott: The Green Lantern #2, DC. The first issue was fascinating, and much darker than I’d anticipated. Very much looking forward to the second issue and seeing where this series is going.

The Uncanny X-Men #142 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. Part 2 of Days of Future Past, one of the all-time classics. I like it when the companies publish FEs back-to-back like this.

The Doom Patrol #99 Facsimile Edition, DC. Beast Boy’s 1965 first appearance! One of your deeper Facsimile Edition cuts, timed to the Titans: Beast World event.

Green Arrow #6, DC. Oh, how lovely this Chris Samnee variant is.

Batman ’89: Echoes #1, DC. Truth to tell, I was underwhelmed by the first miniseries but I do think that “casting” Madonna as a 1989 Harley Quinn is inspired.

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Green Lantern: The Silver Age Omnibus (New Edition),Vol. 1, DC Comics. Gratifying to see DC is keeping all this great Silver Age material in print.

Titans: Beast World #1, DC Comics. It’s nice to finally see the Titans at the center of one of these big DC events.

Dan adds: Taking a wait-and-see approach. I dig Tom Taylor’s Titans but I am so leery of events that I want some consensus before I buy in.

Excalibur Epic Collection: You Are Cordially Invited, Marvel. Wrapping up the original Excalibur run. This was such a fun series.

Iron Man Epic Collection: The War of Super Villains, Marvel. The Mandarin! The Yellow Claw! The Mad Thinker! MODOK! Ultimo! ‘Nuff said!

Spider-Woman #1, Marvel. So happy to see Jessica Drew back in her proper costume.

  1. Re: the Green Lantern Omnibus: I really wish DC would follow Marvel’s lead here and reprint the letters pages in their Omni editions. So much of the enjoyment of revisiting these Silver Age stories is following the fan reactions and editorial comments as the strip progresses.

    • I do wish there was more reprint of that kind of stuff out there.
