Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…
—
Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension
Nightwing #106, DC. I’m still getting caught up on Nightwing. I’ve read the first three trades and have one more to go before I switch to my stack of issues. So glad its summer hiatus is over.
—
Titans #3, DC. Titans are hitting on all cylinders right now, between this series and World’s Finest: Teen Titans. (Not to mention Nightwing and the Tales of… series, which has been good, if inconsistent.)
—
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #19, DC. Riddler in suit? Or Riddler in jumpsuit? Why not both!
Plus, there’s the Nicolas Cage variant. Heh.
—
Detective Comics #58 Facsimile Edition, DC. I’m absolutely bowled over by this one. First appearance of the Penguin! And he’s not even on the cover! I love that DC did this one. (There is a Penguin mini going on and there is the upcoming Colin Farrell series, which is on hold because of the (very understandable) writers’ strike.
—
Archie’s Christmas Wonderland, Archie. A trade collection of Archie X-Mas stories, dating back to the ’70s. (Click here for a SNEAK PEEK.)
—
Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension
Uncle Scrooge & Donald Duck in Les Miserables and War and Peace, Fantagraphics. What?! Apparently this is exactly what it sounds like.
—
Uncanny Spider-Man #1, Marvel. I can’t imagine why Nightcrawler would be running around dressed like Spider-Man, but I wanna find out.
—
Captain America #1, Marvel. J. Michael Straczynski usually writes a pretty solid Marvel comic, so I’m in to check this out.
Dan adds: Dig the George Perez variant!

Rom #1 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. How could I not recommend this? Just a little something to whet your appetite until the Rom Omnibus arrives next year.
