HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

The Avengers #1 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. The Avengers #1 story has been reprinted a bajillion times but this is the first time as a Facsimile Edition, which includes all the ads, extras and whatnot. As Jamie Tartt might say: “Grooveh.”

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #15, DC. Mark Waid and Dan Mora continue their modernized tour of Silver and Bronze Age DC as the Metamorpho arc hits the midpoint. Featuring Professor Ivo, Will Magnus and a whole lotta timely talk about out-of-control A.I.

Titans #1, DC. Wolfman and Perez’s band is back together — with the Titans replacing the Justice League as the DCU’s premier superteam. (At least for now.) By Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott, a superteam in their own right.

Back Issue #143, TwoMorrows. The Neal Adams tribute issue! Click here for an EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT.

Comic Book Creator #30, TwoMorrows. Michael Cho’s work is rad, man.

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Tom Strong Compendium TPB, DC. I can’t remember a series that started as strong (no pun intended) and maintained its quality so consistently throughout its entire run as Alan Moore and Chris Sprouse’s Tom Strong.

The Avengers #1, Marvel. I’ll always jump back into Avengers when “the old order changeth.” This is a pretty classic roster, too, though I would have liked to see some Hawkeye or Hank Pym.

Dan adds: This explains why Marvel picked this week for the Avengers #1 Facsimile Edition.

Danny Ketch: Ghost Rider #1, Marvel. You know you’re getting old when the Danny Ketch version of Ghost Rider is a big nostalgia return to comics…

Marvel Masterworks: Howard the Duck, Vol. 2, Marvel. The final 16 issues of Howard’s original run by Steve Gerber and Gene Colan! Great stuff.

  1. That Adams’ cover should be a Facsimile Edition.
