Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension
Scott’s off this week, so I’m a solo act this time around. And away we go…
Fantastic Four Anniversary Edition #1, Marvel. This is one of those issues where a bunch of modern artists re-create a classic Marvel comic, page by page. Some folks seem to think the idea is pointless, but I say they’re missing the point: Modern creators paying tribute to the trailblazers is always a good thing. BONUS: The issue also includes a re-do of Fantastic Four Annual #3. And dig both of these covers! The main, FF #1 one is by Steve McNiven and the FFA #3 variant is by Jim Cheung.

My Mighty Marvel First Book Board Book Collection, Marvel/Abrams Appleseed. I love this: a boxed set of board books to indoctrinate the young ’uns into this wonderful, creative, thrilling, artistic world we all love so much.
—
Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 3, Marvel. I’m an Epic Collection person, not an omnibus person but if you’re an omnibus person, this re-release covers some of the greatest Spidey issues ever – Amazing Spider-Man #68-104.

Walt Disney’s Donald Duck Vol. 16: Balloonatics, Fantagraphics. Scott’s off this week, but if he were here, he’d pick this for sure.

Elvira Meets Vincent Price #3, Dynamite. Because of course!

I’d better check out “Elvira Meets Vincent Price.”

Those Marvel Board Books also credit the artist they pull the art from and have a short bio for Romita on Spider-Man, Buscema on Black Panther, etc. It’s a nice touch.
