HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

The Wakanda Files: A Technological Exploration of the Avengers and Beyond, Becker & Meyer. I love this kind of faux-reality project. A technical manual for all the high-tech elements in the MCU, as if Shuri herself had written it.

Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four Artisan Edition, IDW Publishing. Any opportunity to get your hands on precise reproductions of original Jack Kirby FF art is a real treat. (FYI: Artisan Editions are smaller versions of IDW’s Artist’s and Artifact Editions.)

Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man: Chameleon Conspiracy #1, Marvel. I haven’t really been keeping up with the monthly Amazing Spider-Man in recent years, but this cover is enough to get me back in.

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Green Arrow 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular, DC. I’ll go with the Adams cover, which reunites GA with Green Lantern – and features the Arrowcar! Weirdly, though, this is the ’60s tribute cover and not the ’70s one. (Adams and Denny O’Neil’s landmark run began in 1970, marking for most fans the start of the Bronze Age.)

Chia Pet David Hasselhoff, Joseph Enterprises. Because how could you not?

  1. Yes, but Ollie’s Robin Hood outfit debuted in 1969!

    • That’s true, but the whole GL/GA angle was ’70s all the way — and that’s clearly the homage here.
