HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Superman Smashes the Klan #1, DC Comics. I’ve long been fascinated by the real-life story of how Stetson Kennedy teamed up with the Superman radio producers in 1946 to take down the Ku Klux Klan, and I’m curious to see how Gene Luen Yang handles the material. Art by Gurihiru. (Dan adds: Far and away the most compelling release of the week.)

Marvel Masterworks: Doctor Strange Vol. 9, Marvel. The acclaimed Roger Stern run! Featuring legendary artists like Marshall Rogers and Paul Smith! Not to be missed.

History of Marvel Universe #4, Marvel. I’m really enjoying what Mark Waid and Javier Rodriguez are doing here. I feel like you could give these to anyone and then send them off to an MCU marathon and they’d feel like experts.

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Superman: Year One #3, DC. I have to admit that this miniseries is far different from anything I expected from Frank Miller, John Romita Jr. and co. So, I really have no idea what to expect in the finale. And that’s a good thing.

Savage Sword of Conan #10, Marvel. Roy Thomas returns to Conan more than 50 years after he popularized him for the Marvel masses. And with art by Alan Davis! (Click here for a SNEAK PEEK.)

Alter Ego #161, TwoMorrows. Roy Thomas’ Stan Lee tribute issue!

Justice League #34, DC. Every issue, we get closer to an ominous-sounding calamity. Mayhap it’s all leading to this mysterious/rumored 5G business that’s making the rounds. Whatever that is will come in due time. Until then, Snyder, Redondo, Porter, et al, have the Leaguers hell-bent on trying to stop Luthor and Perpetua. I don’t think they will.

X-Men #1, Marvel. The mutants’ next era kicks into high gear with Jonathan Hickman and Leinil Francis Yu leading the way.
