Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …
—
Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension
Mister Miracle #5, DC. Over here I wrote about the wonderful job Tom King is doing on Batman. What are the odds he’ll be competing with himself come Eisner time? This series — with art by Mitch Gerads — has been outstanding.
—
Action Comics #993, DC. Booster’s here! That means things will get messed up right away quick. But it’ll be fun while it happens. By Dan Jurgens, Joe Prado, Cam Smith and Hi-Fi.
—
Marvel Comics Digest #4: The X-Men, Marvel/Archie. Lotta Kirby in this one. (Click here for a SNEAK PEEK.)
—
Archie Christmas Spectacular #1, Archie. This is just nice. Bring me some egg nog and three straws, please.
—
Die Kitty Die: Christmas Special #1, Chapterhouse. This is just naughty. Bring me some spiked egg nog and three Wild Turkey chasers, please.
—
Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.
Astro City Reflections TPB, Vertigo. Comic-book series come and go, but Kurt Busiek, Brent Anderson and Alex Ross’ Astro City is still offering beautifully told stories, reliable as the tide. Always worth buying.
—
DC Universe by John Byrne HC, DC Comics. A great selection of Byrne DC stories — everything from Hawkman to the Atom to the Outsiders.
—
Dark Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis: Complete Collection, Marvel. I remember being so skeptical of this when it came out, but man, was I wrong. Just the scene of Norman Osborn seducing the Sentry with Five Guys burgers and fries is worth the price of admission.
