HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Batman #33, DC. We know Selina’s answer. Now Batman hits the road on a quest to be a better man. Oh, and the rest of the Batfamily’s gonna start weighing in and that should be fun. By Tom King, Joelle Jones and Jordie Bellaire. I cannot wait to see how this looks.

Sherlock Frankenstein and the Legion of Evil #1, Dark Horse. Jeff Lemire expands on his Black Hammer universe with this mini focusing on the bad guys. Art by David Rubin.

Aquaman #29, DC. The best comic I’m reading right now. And I just love the Aquaman-Mera-Aqualad-Tempest reunion this issue promises. By Dan Abnett and Stjepan Sejic.

Batman: The Drowned, DC. I haven’t been reading all the Metal tie-ins but I’ll take a crack at this one-shot focusing on an evil Batman/Aquaman/Mera mash-up. Because that’s a helluva selling point right there. And it’s by the aforementioned Dan Abnett. Art by Philip Tan.

Future Quest Presents #3, DC. Jeff Parker and Ariel Olivetti’s Space Ghost-centric arc has been a corker.

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Justice League of America: The Nail Deluxe Edition HC, DC Comics. I was just musing online the other day about how much I enjoyed Alan Davis’ work on this book, and here it is in a fancy new collected edition. How nice. (Also includes the sequel Another Nail.)

The EC Archives: Aces High HC, Dark Horse. This is actually one of the few EC series I’ve never read, but with work by folks like Wally Wood, Jack Davis and Bernie Krigstein, I’m sold.

Thor: Ragnaroks TPB, Marvel. Looking for some good Thor tales while you wait for the new movie? This new trade collects three underrated yarns featuring the God of Thunder and friends from the last few years. Creators include Michael Avon Oeming, Daniel Berman, Scott Kolins, Andrea DiVito and Steve Epting.
