Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …—
Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.
Jack Kirby’s Mighty Thor Artist’s Edition, IDW Publishing. Enjoy original Kirby art at glorious full size. (For a SNEAK PREVIEW, click here.)
—
Avengers John Byrne Omnibus, Marvel. Byrne’s ’90s runs on Avengers and Avengers West Coast, very good stuff and often overlooked.
—
Hawkeye and the Thunderbolts TPB Vol. 2, Marvel. More great Hawkeye and T-Bolts tales from Busiek, Bagley and Nicieza.
—
Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension
Aquaman #2, DC. Some good ol’ Aquaman vs. Black Manta action from Dan Abnett and Brad Walker. Gotta tell you, it’s fun getting this twice a month.
—
Moon Knight #4, Marvel. One of the best books Marvel is putting out right now. No surprise when the primary creative team is Jeff Lemire, Greg Smallwood and Jordie Bellaire.
—
Silver Surfer, #5, Marvel. Not one of the best — the best book Marvel is putting out right now. Dan Slott and Mike and Laura Allred deserve all the credit they’ve been getting. Fingers crossed on the Eisners … (Click here for a SNEAK PREVIEW.)
—
Future Quest #2, DC. When Issue #1 came out, I mentioned that I was never a huge fan of Hanna-Barbera’s adventure characters. But that first issue by the perfect pairing of Jeff Parker and Doc Shaner was a real pip. Still, wouldn’t you love these guys on Superman?
—
Civil War II: Kingpin #1, Marvel. Marvel’s meanest gets the spotlight in this mini from Matthew Rosenberg and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz.
—
Lone Ranger/Green Hornet #1, Dynamite. The two relatives/heroes finally meet. Batfan extraordinaire Michael Uslan teams with Giovanni Timpano to tell a tale that has me just curious enough to try out.
—
Weird Love #13, Yoe Comics/IDW. Not just because I’m blurbed on the cover. It’s because this comic never fails to crack me up whenever it comes out. LOVE IT. (Click here for a SNEAK PREVIEW.)
—
Superman: The Coming of the Supermen #6, DC. The final issue. I’m gonna miss this Neal Adams project when it’s over.

As usual, my Batman picks will come in the BATBOOK OF THE WEEK column — part of BATMAN’S HOT-LINE. You can also find my regular Star Trek picks in the TREK TUESDAYS column.
