GREEN LANTERN: DC to Release ALL-AMERICAN COMICS #16 Facsimile Edition and SILVER AGE OMNIBUS This Fall

Go green or go home…

DC has two major publications for Green Lantern aficionados coming this fall — the All-American Comics #16 Facsimile Edition, featuring Alan Scott’s debut, and a new edition of Green Lantern: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1.

Dig the official solicitations:

ALL-AMERICAN COMICS #16 FACSIMILE EDITION

Art by MARTIN NODELL, SHELDON MAYER, and others
Cover by SHELDON MOLDOFF

“The Origin of Green Lantern!” Engineer Alan Scott’s life is transformed forever when a mystical lantern grants him fantastic power. Chosen by the lantern to be the champion of the green flame of life, Scott crafts a power ring that bestows upon him the abilities of flight and invulnerability, which he uses to fight evil as the Green Lantern! This facsimile reprints the superhero tale plus backup features Mutt & Jeff, Hop Harrigan, Popsicle Pete, and more!

GREEN LANTERN: THE SILVER AGE OMNIBUS VOL. 1 (2023 EDITION)

Written by JOHN BROOME and GARDNER FOX
Art by GIL KANE, JOE GIELLA, MURPHY ANDERSON, MIKE SEKOWSKY, and others
Cover by DARWYN COOKE

Offered again! A dying alien. A fearless test pilot. A ring of nearly limitless power. And a solemn vow to battle evil wherever it may be found. So begins one of comics’ greatest sagas, and one of its most enduring heroes—Hal Jordan, Green Lantern of Sector 2814! After three wildly successful appearances in Showcase beginning in 1959, Green Lantern was given his own title to journey through time and space, matching cosmic threat against emerald will! Collects all of the Emerald Crusader’s tales from Showcase #22-24 and Green Lantern #1-35.

A few thoughts:

— The omnibus runs 1,000 pages and lists for $125.00. It’s due Nov. 28, 2023. My guess is there will be a new cover because DC has changed the dress for its classic omnibi since this was originally released.

The All-American Comics #16 Facsimile Edition is due Oct. 24, 2023. It’ll run $6.99. (It’s 64 pages.) It’s timed to a trio of new miniseries starring three DC Golden Age stalwarts — GL, the Flash and the Sandman.

— This is one of two DC Facsimile Editions coming in October. Click here to check out the other one.

Obligatory Price Comparison: All-American Comics #16 does not appear to come up for sale much online. A slabbed, 6.0-graded original sold at Heritage Auctions for $43,200, including buyer’s premium, in 2021.

  1. What wouldn’t I give for a Golden Age Green Lantern Omnibus!

  2. I wish that someone could explain DC’s design strategy. The above cover for the Silver Age Omnibus by Darwyn Cooke is the old design. Then DC changed the design for their Silver Age Omnibuses (with Batman, Wonder Woman, and presumably the upcoming Superman omnibuses). When the Justice League Silver Age Omnibus was re-released, it matched this new design. But it sounds like the GL omni reprint will retain the old design. MAKE UP YOUR MINDS, DC! PICK A DIRECTION AND STICK WITH IT!

    • I noted that it’s likely the GL Omnibus will have different trade dress. This is at least a placeholder image released by DC.
