FINALLY! First-Ever Permanent BATMAN ’66 MUSEUM Ready to Open

An EXCLUSIVE INSIDE LOOK at the latest…

It’s been a long journey, but the world’s only permanent museum dedicated to the 1966 Batman TV show is finally ready to open.

After a year’s delay due to construction and permitting issues, the Batman Museum in Logansport, Indiana, will welcome the public for the first time on, fittingly, Halloween.

The museum was originally set to open a year ago but operator Mark Racop, who also owns Fiberglass Freaks — the only licensed manufacturer of 1966 Batmobile replicas — had to deal with an unexpected raft of red tape. But the community rallied around the project, Racop raised more funding, and now it’s batteries to power, turbines to speed — roger, ready to move out.

Racop and company are putting the final touches on the museum, which is segmented into seven rooms on two floors, totaling 7,284 square feet. There are reconstructed sets, show memorabilia, a theater and plenty of merch. To get you geared up, here’s an EXCLUSIVE INSIDE LOOK at the latest, with info from Racop himself.

Dig these 13 PIX:

Mark, showing off the Giant Lighted Lucite Map of Gotham City (prior to the lights being added).

Mark’s first 1966 Batmobile replica, built when he was just 17.

The Wayne Manor study includes the sliding bookcase, a handpainted fish replica, and labels (the Bruce and Dick Batpole signs went up about an hour after this picture was taken).

Wayne Manor study trophy case and the sailing ship model.

Some of Mark’s collection.

Autographed pictures from Mark’s collection.

The Rogues Gallery.

Cardboard standees, representing Batman from 1966 through 2022.

Lego standees.

The Jazzinc Batmobile and Hot Toys figures will be on display.

In keeping with the spirit of the show, there are labels for everything.

Bill Crabb’s amazing artwork in the gift shop.

Merchandise, both new and rare, will be available.

The museum will open Thursday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. Plus, our pal Jim Beard will be on hand to sign his fab trilogy of Batman ’66 season guides — Zlonk! Zok! Zowie! The Subterranean Blue Grotto Essays on Batman ’66 – Season One; Biff! Bam! Ee-Yow! The Subterranean Blue Grotto Essays on Batman ’66 – Season Two; and Oooff! Boff! Splatt! The Subterranean Blue Grotto Guide to Batman ’66 – Season Three.

(I have an essay in each, so I’ll be there in spirit!)

Fiberglass Freaks’ Batman Museum is located at 525 East Market Street, Logansport, Indiana, 46947.
