FANTASTIC FOUR: The FIRST STEPS to Comics Greatness

Dig the trailer and dig this: 13 COVERS celebrating the FF’s early years…

Today’s the day: We finally get a bona fide glimpse at Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four: First Steps, the movie that fans hope will finally do justice to comics’ First Family. This morning’s countdown, homaging 1960s NASA footage and audio, was a perfect way to prepare.

And while we don’t know whether the movie itself will be any good until this summer — July 25, to be precise — let’s celebrate the launch with 13 COVERS from the Fantastic Four’s earliest days. Just a random selection, leaving out many of the covers that you’ve seen over and over again.

All are pencilled by Jack Kirby, natch!

Far out.

  1. Great job!!!… And the trailer looks exciting (trying not to use the word ‘fantastic’ too much. And I may be wrong but the inks on # 42 look an awful lot like Colletta’s.

  2. After never having read any FF before, read Nos. 1 through 30 on archive.org (Masterworks collection I believe) during the pandemic. Was impressed at how well the stories held up, and more importantly, just how much fun those stories were.

  3. I’m glad to see #41 here. That’s when the FF officially and truly did become the World’s Greatest Comic Magazine.
