Benjamin J. Holcomb’s MOC: Mego World’s Greatest Super-Heroes — 1976-1982 is coming this spring…
by Benjamin J. Holcomb was published by TwoMorrows back in 2007. It’s considered the bible for the best toy line ever and fans have been clamoring for a sequel ever since.
The wait is almost over. Coming this spring is MOC: Mego World’s Greatest Super-Heroes — 1976-1982, published by Holcomb himself. It’s a lushly illustrated hardcover that’s destined to become the definitive source on carded Mego WGSH figures released across the world.
Yes, the world.
And we have your EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEEK:
“After TwoMorrows published my Mego book in 2007, I swore I would never make another book,” Benjamin said. “But now, nearly two decades later, it is finally possible for me to make this book… a book I once thought impossible. This is the one Mego collectors have always dreamed of owning. Last year, I realized I had to stop dreaming, roll up my sleeves and get to it.”

Benjamin’s first book, which commands a pretty price on the secondary market.
The 60-page hardcover is designed to be the ultimate reference guide to the fan-favorite WGSH “2nd Issue” cards — whether we’re talking Marvel and DC main releases and Fist-Fighters or English, Canadian, French, Italian and Australian issues. From mainstays like Batman and Spider-Man to relative rarities like Isis and the Teen Titans.
As Benjamin puts it, it’s packed with never-before-published photos, facts and information — including a complete price guide.
Dig this Spidey spread:
But, wait, there’s more!
“I started collecting toys and compiling Mego information in 1985,” Benjamin recalled. “I started researching the company in the early 1990s and began tracking public and private auctions in 1996. I started writing a book about Mego in 2003, and TwoMorrows published Mego 8” Super-Heroes: World’s Greatest Toys! in 2007. I began publishing a series of Mego-focused magazines in 2017, documenting the company, its rich global history, its employees and its toys.
“As I wrote in the book’s afterword,” he added. “‘This book represents thousands of hours of research, documentation and interviews with dozens of fellow collectors, former Mego and Lion Rock employees and industry insiders.'”
Best part is that’ll be here before you know it — scheduled for April. So how to get it?
Gotta pre-order. Because Benjamin is self-publishing this beauty, financing has to be locked in.
“The book is done, but the printer gets paid up front,” he said. “So I can’t get this beast manufactured without pre-orders. Due to the considerable expense of self-publishing a quality book like this, the total number of books will be limited and based on paid pre-orders. I am crossing my fingers for a press run of 100 copies. So, yeah. Very limited. Over time, I expect this book will be scarce and in demand.”
MOC: Mego WGSH is $65.00, plus shipping and handling and you can reserve your copy here.
Now, keep in mind, 100 is the minimum number he’s shooting for — and he’s already about halfway there. So the more, the very much merrier. (I’ve already ordered mine!) Benjamin will also inscribe the book or leave it unsigned: your preference.
“I will ship books the same day I receive inventory from my printer,” Benjamin said. “As always, thank you for your support. I hope you love this book as much as I loved making it.”
