It’s a big year for DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths. The maxiseries by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, with contributions by many others, is getting a fancy, new remastered Absolute Edition in a few weeks and, coincidentally, TwoMorrows is preparing to publish the astonishingly thorough The Crisis Companion, by Kevin Miller.

The book primarily focuses on the 1984-85 maxiseries that radically altered the DC Universe and, by extention, completely changed how comic publishers do business. But the edition also spends a healthy amount on the history of the DC Multiverse, going back to its earliest influences and inspirations.

Nevertheless, the meat of the oversize 256-page softcover is, as mentioned, COIE itself, with about 150 pages of analysis and breakdown of each of the 12 issues, as well as crossovers and tie-ins.
