Eric Powell’s THE GOON Makes 20th Anniversary Splash

Big party coming in March…

Eric Powell’s The Goon turns 20 this year and the artist is celebrating with an anniversary bash in Nashville, Tenn., in March.

And it’s not your standard store signing either. Nope, The Goon is taking over Cannery Ballroom One on March 8 with a night of comedy and music.

The event will feature a live recording of the popular podcast Uhhh, with host Steve Agee (The Sarah Silverman Program, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2); guests Brendon Small (Metalocalypse, Galaktikon, Home Movies) and Ben Garant (Reno 911!, The State); Powell himself; plus, a performance by special musical guest West End Motel, featuring Brent Hinds (Mastodon) and Tom Cheshire (the Rent Boys, All Night Drug Prowling Wolves).

The party is timed to Powell’s new The Goon #1 from his own Albatross Funnybooks. The new series will feature the first full-length Goon stories since Dark Horse published Once Upon a Hard Time in 2015, and organizers say fans will be able buy a special, exclusive variant cover of the new series’ premiere issue at March’s soiree:

Cannery Ballroom is located at One Cannery Row.

Doors open at 7 pm. Tickets cost $15 and are on sale now. (Click here.)
