TOYHEM! A bounty of beautiful plastic…

Welcome to TOYHEM! For the sixth straight holiday season, we’re bringing you a series of features and columns celebrating the toys of our youth, which often made for the best memories this time of year. UPDATED 12/1/24: Collector Dwayne Pinkney took wonderful photographs of action figures and we always enjoyed running them here at 13th Dimension. Sadly, Dwayne died in August, so in tribute to his passion and talent, we’re reprinting this piece from December 2022 and its sister column on Kenner’s Super Powers. (Click here.) — Dan

One of the things I love about TOYHEM every year is that sometimes we’ll post something and that will prompt a reader or contributor to join in the fun.

Take Dwayne Pinkney, a collector who photographs wonderful portraits of action figures. You saw his work earlier this year in Chris Franklin’s TOP 13 CLASSIC SUPER POWERS FIGURES — RANKED.

Anyway, the other day we posted a TOYHEM column by Jason Young in which he ranked the TOP 13 MARVEL SECRET WARS FIGURES. Dwayne saw the column and let me know he has a raft of Secret Wars portraits too. It’s not quite 13 but I don’t care — these are fab images (and each figure happens to also appear in Jason’s column, so click here to check that out.)

Meanwhile, dig the pretty, in no specific order:

  2. Nice photos for sure. Why does IM need a weapon? He’s a walking, talking war machine as it is. Similar to putting armor on the Hulk. Not needed. 🙂
