Dig These Gorgeous, Gigantic NEAL ADAMS Paintings

THE NEAL ADAMS CHRONICLES: Stunning artwork at New York Comic Con…

One of the highlights of going to New York Comic Con every year was visiting the Neal Adams “booth.” I say “booth” because it was actually more like a small, autonomous nation, with a gazillion tables covered in Adams artwork, books and whatnot. In the middle of it all would be Neal, always drawing and incessantly jawing. Dude loved to hold court.

Sadly, of course, Neal is no longer here. But the Adams family is still planning a big display — but not the way you’re thinking.

We are back on the main floor this year at NYCC Booth #3935,” Kris Adams Stone, Neal’s daughter, said. “We might not have 19 tables this year but I promise we will have something just as BIG! Join us, as we are very proud to present Neal Adams and Zeea Adams at NYCC.”

What does that mean? Among other offerings, the Adamses (including 13th Dimension columnist Peter Stone) will be displaying gigantic paintings — by Neal himself and daughter Zeea, who worked off of Neal’s layouts — featuring Green Lantern and panels from the newspaper strip Ben Casey.

Check these out:

“The Lanterns are Neal with Zeea touch-ups,” Pete tells us. “The women are from Ben Casey and all Zeea, except for the layouts. Zeea copying Neal as best she can.

“The Green Lantern paintings are 4 feet by 4 feet and Marilyn Adams (Neal’s widow) is looking for $40,000. Zeea’s Ben Caseys are 4′ x 4′ and 3′ x 3′ and between $12,000 and $18,000. They are big, that’s for sure, but would look nice in a living room. Especially Zeea’s… not too superhero-y.”

Pete also said there are giclees of all the paintings available at 20″ x 20″ for about $200, a more affordable option.
