Dig SEAN CHEN’s Note-Perfect ROBIN OF EARTH-TWO

The grown-up ex-Boy Wonder, ready to go to work…

Hey, didja see artist Sean Chen’s moving paper puppets of Batman and Robin that emulate the opening credits of the 1966 Adam West TV show?

You probably did, judging by the huge response that post received. But if not, check them out here because they are far out!

Anyway, during my back-and-forth with Sean while putting that post together, I came across this wonderful piece he did of Earth-Two Robin in his original, Batman-inspired duds.

Dig this:

Sean makes adult Robin suitably tough, a worthy successor to his mentor. But with that slight smile, you know the laughing young daredevil is still in there.

Right. On.

The amazing thing is that Sean was unfamiliar with Earth-Two Robin until he got this commission.

Helluva rookie effort, I’d say.

  1. If McFarlane doesn’t finally make this I’ll scream.

      • Not likely with McFarlane losing the DC license at end of 2026. I hope I’m wrong and their last push are fan demanded figures like this. I’d buy more than one I suspect.

  5. Was intrigued by the Earth-Two Robin since his JLA cover turn so many years ago. Nice to see a very cool alternative interpretation. And yes, I’m still intrigued.

  6. The Earth Two Dick Grayson looked so much more like a grown man in this costume than he did in his later costume. In All Star Comics #58he looked like he had been de-aged since we last saw him.

  7. Every time I hear someone bring up this costume, it is to deride it. I’ve never understood that, because I’ve always LOVED this look! So nice to see someone render it so lovingly…

  8. That is without doubt the best depiction of the original grown-up Robin costume I’ve seen. It really sells it.
