A SNEAK PEEK at artwork from the modern master’s upcoming Abrams ComicArts project…

As we reported a while back, Alex Ross has a major new project coming from Abrams ComicArts and Marvel, called Marvel Dimensions, which explores the early years of the House of Ideas’ characters and concepts.

To get you hyped into a frenzy, Marvel has revealed no less than 18 (!) variant covers featuring art from the hardcover that will begin adorning issues in June, and run into August. (The book is due Sept. 1, 2026.)

These don’t work for me. If the idea is to sell comics, then no. They just don’t work in that capacity for me. I say that and I’ve already ordered the book. Even with traditional trade dress these covers won’t come near to the stories found within. Why not do a limited series of one-off stories based on the covers? Do old school storylines and I’d buy those. Good stories with good art….that would work.

I would say for me, the covers DO work, but the interiors most likely will not. I almost never buy the new stuff for the covers alone if the interiors are terrible ( which they are most of the time – with very few exceptions ).
I would def like to see a new series by Ross featuring his interiors on these heroes. I will be buying the Dimensions one-off though.

Amazon describes it as “second book in the Marvel Arts series”. If that is what you mean, than I will be also. There seems to be a Doctor Strange book in this list called “Endless Nightmare”. It does not appear to have work done by Ross I’ll be checking this out too possibly.
