DESPOP TUESDAYS!
Our pal Des Taylor’s readying a mid-July Kickstarter launch for a new series that pays tribute to the Golden Age of comics, pulp and serials — Eva Strongbird and the Marine.
Des has been promoting the character and giving sneak peeks for some time, but now we’re getting to the crowdfunding of Part 1 (of 2):
“Eva Strongbird and the Marine is a labor of love for me and my buddy Robb Pratt, who have poured our passion for pulp heroes, classic serial storytelling, and the glamor of Golden Age Hollywood into every panel,” sez Des. “We are massive fans of Fleischer Superman, Flash Gordon, Indiana Jones, and Zorro. Those who love classic war movies will feel right at home in this explosive new universe of espionage, adventure, and high-stakes wartime heroism.
“For us, this is just the beginning of creating not only a beautiful two-part comic book adventure — but an animated series!” he added. “Robb has already fleshed out a full animatic for the opening sequence, and we would love for you all to invest in our vision of seeing this to completion.”
The first issue will be 50 pages, with an exclusive edition coming in at 72 pages. There will also be a raft of killer diller rewards and add-ons, including sketches, commissions, collectible cards and a few surprises along the way, Des said.
The campaign is scheduled for about July 15 — and Des will also be at San Diego Comic-Con to promote the project. Click here for more info and to get on board.
Meantime, check out these other teases, including a fab video!
