But not for long…

The late, great George Perez was born 72 years ago, on June 9, 1954. This year, we have a four-part BIRTHDAY SPECIAL, because that’s just how it worked out. You can click here, here and here for the other parts. (The links are also at the bottom of this piece.) Dig it! — Dan

The much-anticipated, newly remastered Crisis on Infinite Earths: Absolute Edition, which was originally due over the winter and delayed a few times, is now expected to be released July 7.
By all accounts, it’s well worth the wait. The book has been given a thorough going over, utilizing Jerry Ordway’s original inks and other original artwork, with the original colors restored. There’s lots more to it, too.
Ordway last year gave a rundown on the project and, as a reminder, here’s the official solicit info, with all sorts of groovy details:

Wouldn’t the cover art credit go to Alex Ross? Unless the image shown is not the final cover art

It was pencilled by Perez, actually, but yes, of course that’s Alex Ross who painted it.

That’s not the final cover. Not sure if this is what will be the cover but Jerry inked the pencils George did for the painted version.

Ross painted over Pérez’s pencils on the original image and that was the cover for the first COIE collection in the late 90’s and many subsequent ones since, including the first Absolute Crisis collection. I believe the Ross version will show up somewhere in this new version.

I remember reading this back in ’85 & just being blown away by the art; I can’t imagine how amazing it will look in Absolute…

Oh DC Comics just loves to kill and cripple women! Just one of the reasons I don’t buy comics anymore. I’m content with my back issues.
