DC’s 1986 ELVIRA’S HOUSE OF MYSTERY to Be Collected for the First Time

The 1980s run is being re-published by DC and Dynamite…

DC Comics in 1986 began publishing Elvira’s House of Mystery, a revival of its preeminent horror title, but with the va-va-voom TV personality as the “hostess,” replacing Cain.

The series ran 11 issues (plus a Christmas special) and attracted such talent as Dave Stevens, Brian Bolland, Dan Spiegle, Denys Cowan, Bob Oksner, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Gene Colan, among others.

Now, 40 years after it debuted, Elvira’s House of Mystery will be collected in full, with hardcover and paperback editions to be released in August by DC and Dynamite, which holds the Elvira license.

Elvira, everyone’s favorite Mistress of the Dark, first made a splash in comics in the 1986 series Elvira’s House of Mystery, originally published by DC Comics. Now, Dynamite collects this entire series for the very first time, with Elvira acting as hostess-with-the-mostest to these chilling tales of the macabre. This series includes eye-popping covers by Dave Stevens, Brian Bolland, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Denys Cowan, stories by legendary comics creators including Robert Kanigher and others, and more! Includes all eleven issues of Elvira’s House of Mystery plus the Elvira’s Haunted Holidays Special!

Paperback cover by Brian Bolland. Originally the Issue #1 cover.

One of the series’ highlights was Issue #3, which was not approved by the Comics Code because of its racy content. Naturally, it’s in this volume.

The hardcover lists for $59.99, with softcover set at $49.99. Both are due Aug. 19.
