DC Unveils New Wave of THROUGH THE AGES Covers by NICOLA SCOTT

A total of 12, featuring Catwoman! Supergirl! The Flash! MORE! Plus the fan-fave Nightwing cover will finally be published!

One of the most popular variant concepts of the last few years has been Nicola Scott’s “Through the Ages” covers that usually adorn anniversary issues and the like.

Four have already been published: Action Comics #1000, Detective Comics #1000 and Wonder Woman #750 were exclusives for Australia’s Kings Comics. Then there was the Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1. A fifth has only made the rounds on the web: Robin/Nightwing, which is particularly notable for Dick Grayson’s fan-favorite firm buttocks. (Only Hal Jordan poses a challenge.)

DC Comics knows when it’s got a good thing going, so in September, the company will put an “artist spotlight” on Scott with seven more such covers. Not just that, the four previously published covers will be reprinted, with the Nightwing cover getting its first-ever release.

Several were revealed this week but now we have the full run, so dig this gallery of all 12 — I wish there were 13! — along with the issues they will appear on. The dates and prices will be announced later this month.

  1. Every once in a while there is an iconic cover that rightly gets homaged, especially by the original artist! This is one of them! Love ’em all! I can’t wait until Nicola gets around to the Original Captain Marvel!

  2. These covers do a great job of pointing out how over-wrought and fiddly most of the modern costumes are compared to the ones of the past.

  6. These are neat, but I am a little disappointed Tomar-Re and Kilowog aren’t among the Green Lanterns.

  7. Such an awesome concept! Love them all but would have to rank Zatanna at the bottom. They left out my fav iteration, the late 70’s ponytail look.
