A few thoughts:

— Three other images were also released: Two months and the back cover. Check ’em out:

— The calendar is due July 7, 2023, and lists for $17.99.

— Fans have been clamoring for DC to release the Style Guides themselves as a book. Why the publisher hasn’t is a matter of conjecture but I do believe it’s leaving big money on the table.

UPDATED: My eyes deceive me. A few of the months appear to have been done by other artists — Batman and Robin by Neal Adams, for example, should have jumped out at me. Check out Chris Franklin’s note below. Thanks, Chris! Still a really groovy calendar with lots of great art by JLGL (and others)!

  1. Man, this is good news. I really wish they’d release at least selections from the style guide over the years (it changed with additional art added to the original 1982 version), but it’s a start. I believe the image of Superman, Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern is actually by Eduardo Barretto, who did supplemental work in the guide around the mid-80s. The Super-Gals art is from the 2000s, but is by JLGL. The Batman and Robin piece, busting through the paper is by Neal Adams, I believe. And it looks like Dick Giordano drew the odd Clark Kent/Wonder Woman piece. The rest appears to be JLGL with Giordano on inks. But it’s wonderful to see these classic DC artists, and their art, get a spotlight!
