DC COMICS to Re-Release the Epic SPY VS. SPY OMNIBUS

The first Spy vs. Spy, from 1961’s Mad #60 (EC Comics)‹

Boy, I love Spy vs. Spy. It’s one of those classic Mad Magazine features that seamlessly combines cleverness with dumb humor — a hallmark of the legendary publication. It’s basically Wile E. Coyote vs. the Road Runner through a Cold War prism, except that both sides get in their shots: The White Spy wins sometimes. The Black Spy wins sometimes. The reader wins every time.

So how cool is it that DC Comics in October is re-releasing the Spy vs. Spy Omnibus, which first saw print in 2011.

Dig the official solicitation info, which DC will formally announce later in April:

SPY VS. SPY OMNIBUS (2023 EDITION)

Written by ANTONIO PROHIAS

Art and cover by ANTONIO PROHIAS

Offered again! The diabolical duo of double-cross and deceit return to print in this omnibus collecting 50 years of Spy vs. Spy strips from the pages of MAD. Featuring rare interviews with creator Antonio Prohias, biographical and historical essays, Prohias family photos, unpublished and never-before-seen preliminary sketches, artist tributes, and more, this rib-tickling volume is a feast for the eyes and the funny bone!

A few thoughts:

— The 400-page hardcover is due Oct. 31, 2023, and lists for $75.
