EXCLUSIVE: These are really becoming a thing…
Over the summer, DC released eight variant covers that celebrated the 40th anniversary of Kenner’s Super Powers Collection action figure line. The covers, by Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and Alex Saviuk, emulated the original packaging but included figures that were never produced in the original range.
DC decided to keep it going, and in February 2025, there will be a Saga of the Swamp Thing #37 Facsimile Edition variant with a Hellblazer Super Powers cover.
Now, the concept seems to be taking hold in March, with two more variants, also attached to Facsimile Editions: Batgirl and Earth-Two Superman.
The Batgirl cover is a variant for the The Batman Adventures #12 Facsimile Edition, which features Harley Quinn’s first comics appearance (click here for more info on that ish), and the Superman is for Crisis on Infinite Earths #12 (click here).
Each goes for $4.99.

A few thoughts:
— Three months is a trend, so if we see more of these in April, it’s a solid bet that these will become a regular part of the Facsimile Edition offerings, and I am down for that. It’s a perfect marriage of subjects.
— This will never happen but it would be really cool if 1960s FE variants featured Captain Action and 1970s FE variants featured Mego.
— The natural question is whether McFarlane Toys will ever produce these as actual action figures. For what it’s worth, they have said that anything is possible.
— In addition to the links below, make sure you come back to 13th Dimension on Friday, when we’ll have even more DC Facsimile Edition news — including another Treasury Edition!
— DC’s full solicitations will be formally released later this week.

Glad to see Earth-Two Superman get some love, and I love Saviuk’s Wayne Boring-like approach!
And Batgirl is of course one of the biggest head-scratching missing figures in both the Kenner AND McFarlane lines!

The “Super Powers” brand is definitely iconic and a very important part of pop culture. Special thanks to Jason Geyer and Alex Saviuk for two more variant covers for the brand.
