As part of TOYHEM!, we’re bringing you a series-within-a-series — the Custom Mego Box of the Day, by 13th Dimension contributor and customizer extraordinaire Anthony Durso.

Custom Mego Box of the Day #6 was inspired by James Bond. Click here.

And, now we bring you Custom Mego Box of the Day #7:

SUPER POWERS AQUAMAN

Figures Toy Company, a modern Mego-style company, has released countless figures inspired by DC Comics. One of their subsets mashes up Mego’s Fist Fighters with Kenner’s Super Powers concept. These figures are blister-carded and feature artwork and styling reminiscent of the Kenner line. However, several years prior, a Mego customizer had commissioned me to do a series of cards in the Super Powers style for his figures. When FTC eventually released licensed figures, I began to get requests for Super Powers boxes and adapted my old blister card designs. I’ve always loved the look of these and any excuse to use Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez artwork, I’ll take it.

Anthony Durso is the owner of Retropolis Tees (click here) and The Toyroom toy package customizing company (click here), so make sure you check out his nifty wares.
