As part of TOYHEM!, we’re bringing you a series-within-a-series — the Custom Mego Box of the Day, by 13th Dimension contributor and customizer extraordinaire Anthony Durso.
Custom Mego Box of the Day #3 was inspired by Planet of the Apes. Click here.
And, now we bring you Custom Mego Box of the Day #4. Actually, it’s a blister card, but that’s cool:
BATMAN ’66
—
Although I prefer boxes for my personal collection, sometimes I go with cards. And even though I already had a pretty extensive line of Batman ’66 boxes, when Figures Toy Company released their Batman TV figures I decided I wanted to do a card series. Once again I looked at the current product (blister cards) and thought I could improve. Whereas FTC used screen caps from episodes for their artwork I tried my hand at creating comic-book style illustrations of the cast for the Mego-inspired cameo circles. I have a long history with Mego figures and Batman ’66, and these are the cards that I would’ve wanted to see pop off the pegs back in the ’70s. Zap!!! Biff!!! Kapow!
