If the description sounds like “The Dark Cat Returns” or “Old Lady Selina,” you’re right on the money. But Chiang takes the trope and keeps it fresh, with a briskly paced story filled with drama, action, and a certain measure of humor.
Plus, the art, which at times winks at David Mazzucchelli’s Batman: Year One, is superb. Chiang is one of the very best in the business today, and he hits every note right.
