SNEAK PEEK: What You Have to Look Forward to With the 1942 BATMAN #11 FACSIMILE EDITION

Finally out Wednesday… As I’ve written many times, I’ve long wanted to get my hands on a copy of 1942’s Batman #11, but that’s been based on the strength of Fred Ray and Jerry Robinson’s magnificent cover — the Joker’s first, in fact. Thing is, I’ve never actually seen the inside of the issue, and chances are the same holds true for you since it will almost certainly be slabbed if you encounter it. (The stories have been reprinted, sure, but not all the other features, ads and whatnot.) So, with the Batman #11 Facsimile Edition out from DC on Wednesday, Sept. 2, we’re offering you a rare INSIDE LOOK at one of the most sought-after Bat-comics. Dig this SNEAK PEEK — 13 pages, even! — showing all the covers (front, back, and inside), the four story splash pages, a fun feature, and a bunch of zippy, colorful ads. Swell! — The 68-page ish (including covers) runs $6.99, and also has foil ($9.99) and sketch logo ($7.99) variants. THE BLUE LOTUS STRIKES: Dig All the Variant Covers for DES TAYLOR’s 1960s Spy Romp

DESPOP TUESDAYS! Des Taylor’s The Blue Lotus Strikes was funded on Kickstarter and is coming soon — real soon. But for another advance taste of this sexy Sixties superspy sendup, dig all the variant covers (below) Dapper Des has produced. (Seven of them are 1-of-1 covers snapped up by a private collector in Hawaii.) “Over 24 years in the making, this book is my love song to all those classic films and TV shows I grew up on and loved watching with my family, especially my late mother,” sez Des. “Matt Helm, In Like Flint, Man From UNCLE, Elvis movies, Star Trek, Sean Connery Bond, Batman ’66, The Green Hornet and many more. For all of you who grew up with only four channels on your TV, for those who remember a simpler time, of beautiful cars, smartly dressed gentlemen, and screen sirens that made your heart flutter… you’re in for a blast.” Digital copies will go out this weekend to those who pledged, with hard copies set to ship starting Sept. 15. For more info, click here. Groovy. — Want a commission? Buy prints? Buy Des’ comics? Check out his Despop Art website! — MORE — If Only There Were More JAMES BOND COMICS That Adapted the Movies.
