Coming to comics shops in July… Clover Press is the latest publisher to reprint Marvel’s Bronze Age The Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strips. The first batch — 1977, ’78, ’79, ’80 — is now available, but the books are also included in a monster bundle called “the Works,” which features all four volumes, plus a bunch of goodies. Among said goodies is a Facsimile Edition of 1980’s cult-favorite The Amazing Spider-Man #1, a mass-market paperback that reprinted newspaper-strip stories featuring the wall-crawler battling Doctor Doom and Doctor Octopus. But what’s especially cool is that Clover Press is making that Facsimile Edition available separately in comics shops in July. A 65th ANNIVERSARY special… Fantastic Four #1 came out 65 years ago this summer — Aug, 8, 1961, to be precise — and Marvel has a couple of comics on the way that celebrate the anniversary.
