1980’s AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Cult-Favorite Paperback Gets FACSIMILE EDITION

Coming to comics shops in July… Clover Press is the latest publisher to reprint Marvel’s Bronze Age The Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strips. The first batch — 1977, ’78, ’79, ’80 — is now available, but the books are also included in a monster bundle called “the Works,” which features all four volumes, plus a bunch of goodies. Among said goodies is a Facsimile Edition of 1980’s cult-favorite The Amazing Spider-Man #1, a mass-market paperback that reprinted newspaper-strip stories featuring the wall-crawler battling Doctor Doom and Doctor Octopus. But what’s especially cool is that Clover Press is making that Facsimile Edition available separately in comics shops in July. Dig the official solicitation info, posted at Lunar Distribution: AMAZING SPIDER MAN POCKET BOOK FACSIMILE EDITION TP (W) Stan Lee (A/CA) John Romita A facsimile reprint of The Amazing Spider-Man pocket book first published in 1980! This book retains the 4.5″ x 7″ trim size and 160 page count of the original printing, and features stories from the first years of the newspaper strip! — Buncha thoughts:   — The 160-page book retails for $14.99. It’s due in stores July 15, but can already be ordered directly from Clover Press. — The publisher is preparing a second Kickstarter covering the years 1981-84. It hasn’t been announced whether the follow-up paperback The Amazing Spider-Man #2 will be part of that campaign. — Obligatory Price Comparison: Pocket Books’ original 1980 The Amazing Spider-Man #1, with a scuffed cover, recently sold on eBay for $46. — MORE — 1971’s Landmark AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #100 to Get Facsimile Edition Release. AUGUST’s FANTASTIC FOUR #15 Will Feature Art by KIRBY, BUSCEMA, BYRNE and MORE

A 65th ANNIVERSARY special… Fantastic Four #1 came out 65 years ago this summer — Aug, 8, 1961, to be precise — and Marvel has a couple of comics on the way that celebrate the anniversary. One of them is Fantastic Four: 65 Years of the World’s Greatest Comic Covers! which spotlights every main FF cover ever published. Head on over here to get the skinny. The other publication is Fantastic Four #15, which will utilize classic images by Jack Kirby, John Buscema, John Byrne and Steve Epting “in an entirely new way.” (Both issues are due Aug. 5.) Dig the solicitation info: FANTASTIC FOUR #15 RYAN NORTH (W) • HUMBERTO RAMOS (A/C) FOIL VARIANT COVER BY MARCOS MARTIN • VARIANT COVER BY KRIS ANKA MARVEL RIVALS VARIANT COVER BY NETEASE GAMES MARY JANE WATSON VARIANT COVER BY ANNIE WU PIXAR 40TH VARIANT COVER BY TBA • VARIANT COVER BY TBA VARIANT COVER BY TBA 65th ANNIVERSARY SPECTACULAR! • It’s the 65th Anniversary of the Fantastic Four, and to celebrate, we’ve got an extra-large, extra-fantastic adventure for you, starring everyone’s favorite adventurers, spanning centuries of history and a universe of scientific progress! • The Fantastic Four have been defeated: With their personal arrows of time reversed, they’re careening into the past with no hope of salvation – unless a complete stranger can find out what they need. • But even if she does, that will only get them halfway home, because there’s still a threat in the present that’s waiting to kill them – and that’s IF they can arrive there alive! • This is one issue you won’t want to miss – because you’ll have to wait 65 years for ANYTHING like it. • PLUS: Johnny’s mustache saves New York City?! • FEATURING CLASSIC IMAGES BY JACK KIRBY, JOHN BUSCEMA, JOHN BYRNE AND STEVE EPTING SEEN IN AN ENTIRELY NEW WAY! RETAILERS/CONSUMERS: PLEASE INQUIRE REGARDING FOIL PRICING. 40 PGS./Rated T… $5.99 On Sale: Aug. 5 That Martin cover will look fun in foil, won’t it? It’s not yet clear what “an entirely new way” means for the vintage art, though Marvel did something similar with Planet of the Apes a few years ago. We’ll find out soon enough. The mere idea sounds intriguing. — MORE — FANTASTIC FOUR: MARVEL Plans 65th ANNIVERSARY Comic Special That Includes EVERY COVER. Click...
