Thanks for this wonderful post and for celebrating Canada’s national holiday. As a proud Canadian, I especially love how you started and ended your gallery with the two greatest issues in my love of Wolverine and Alpha Flight. It was Byrne’s AF 17 that made me want to track down X-Men 109 as a back issue, which I ended up getting for my 12th birthday. I’m still not sure which version of that cover I love most because they each something very unique and special about them. One of the ways I am celebrating today is by reading Origin, the seminal tale of Wolvie’s earliest years. Happy Canada Day everyone!

Alpha Flight, hands down, is my favorite Marvel team. Though, the writing never topped Byrne’s initial run.

I was into this series at first. I enjoyed Byrne’s pencils for sure. But when Guardian was eliminated I was done. My favorite character of the bunch was always Puck. (Wasn’t Wolverine more Puck size than he’s depicted now?) That all said, gotta disagree on one point. I loved Captain Canuck. I especially liked when George Freeman was doing the art.
