Maybe? Not sure who has the Shadow rights these days. I can’t recall any Shadow comics since Grendel Vs. Shadow in 2014.

Oh! This REALLY is so tempting!! I know I’m definitely going to get the hardcover version of these stories once it is collected in the Bronze Age omnibus volumes. But this release is just too hard to pass up!!!

Is this seriously 35+ issues of Batman but only 15 issues of Detective? That seems off–these Finest collections seem to collect the monthly issues of both in tandem. I’m not super up on the 70s era of Batman, so I’m unaware if this was a heavy reprint period where it wouldn’t make sense to rerun existing issues in a collection.
I am loving these Batman finest collections and they’ve become my new financial pain. I do wonder if the Batman collections will stop at Knightfall. These Finest/Epic Collections really make sense as a way of collecting the “soap opera” eras of comics which really stopped in the late 90s. The Batman titles really became crossover heavy in the 90s (Knightfall was basically three years, and then Troika, and then Contagion, Legacy, Cataclysm, and No Man’s Land) and they’ve been independently collected anyway.

Very pleased to see both Archie Goodwin’s DETECTIVE COMICS run and Len Wein’s “Bat-Murderer” getting a stylish reprint. I devoted chapters to both of these in my TwoMorrows book THE BATCAVE COMPANION.

I’m almost certain that #281 is a typo on DC or PRH’s end, and that it is meant to be #261.
#246 to #281 + the Batman stories from that run of Detective would add up to roughly 890 pages. #246 to #261 + the Detective stories featuring Batman would constitute somewhere around 565 pages. Add in the model kit story, plus foreword, table of contents, extras, etc. and we’d be looking at right around 584 pages.
#261 would also be around the same month as Detective #445.

First of all, this is the only comic blog I read and it’s great. Secondly, just putting this out there – I would love a collection of the stories in which Robin comes home from college to work with Batman. There weren’t all that many of them but they were definitely big events. It would be great to have them all in one place.
