Welcome to BATMADNESS: The Animated Tournament — your chance to VOTE for the greatest Batman: The Animated Series episode of all time.
Writer Fred Van Lente, a 13th Dimension regular, and his artistic collaborator Ryan Dunlavey have produced The Comic Book History of Animation — a five-part series whose Issue #2 is out Dec. 23 from IDW. To celebrate, we’re holding a tourney to pick the best episode from the greatest comic-book animated series of them all — and YOU get to decide.
Fred and Ryan have seeded eight episodes each for a Sweet 16 and we’ll be pairing them off until we have a champion in January. (Click here to follow the whole tournament.)

“I didn’t think very fondly of this episode until I rewatched it recently, and found its retread of the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons Superman classic For the Man Who Has Everything oddly touching, largely because of Kevin Conroy’s great, tortured performance as Batman, who wakes up to find his life as a vigilante is a bad dream. The big twist in this episode is total BS: Based on my own dreams, you can totally read in them.” — FVL

Perchance to Dream gets the slight edge. Anytime you can get inside the head of Batman is a good episode. Over the Edge is the best of the series – a true nightmare vs the dream in this episode.

The Laughing Fish is a great adaptation of a great comic story…but Perchance to Dream is more important to BTAS, so I have to go with that one.
