BART, I AM YOUR FATHER: A Simpsons STAR WARS Anniversary Salute

MORRISON MONDAYS!

By BILL MORRISON

We’re in the thick of comics convention season, and I’ve been hitting my fair share of cons from MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, to Planet Comicon in Kansas City, to Astronomicon in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This past weekend I was a guest at GalaxyCon in Oklahoma City, and while working in my hotel room on this column, I realized that we were approaching the 49th anniversary of the release of Star Wars (later subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope) which is today!

So, in celebration of George Lucas’s phenomenal, world-changing science fiction masterpiece, I thought I’d share a convention sketch that casts Homer Simpson as Darth Vader and shows how he would express his frustration with Bart when in possession of the power of the Force.

Eisner winner BILL MORRISON has been working in comics and publishing since 1993 when he co-founded Bongo Entertainment with Matt Groening, Cindy Vance and Steve Vance. At Bongo, and later as Executive Editor of Mad Magazine, he parodied the comics images he loved as a kid every chance he got. Not much has changed.

Bill is on Instagram (@atomicbattery) and Facebook (Bill Morrison/Atomic Battery Studios), and regularly takes commissions and sells published art through 4C Comics.

  1. I was at MegaCon. I attended the Thursday opening night. I was there to get a picture with William Shatner. Sorry I missed you at your table, Bill.
