ADAM WEST Goes DARK KNIGHT RETURNS in This Brilliant BATMAN 85th Anniversary Cover

Holy Sebbin Lebbin!

DC’s been doing some great variants for Batman’s 85th anniversary — but this one takes the Bat-cake.

Dig Nicola Scott’s cover for Batman #152:

Yeah, Adam West cast in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns — the ultimate mash-up of the two most diametrically opposed versions of our hero.

If you’ve not been following this anniversary schtick, DC has been redoing famous Batman covers but instead casting screen versions of the Caped Crusader. For example, there was a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Detective Comics #27 Facsimile Edition — in full Golden Age size — but with Christian Bale in his Batman Begins regalia:

Dan Mora

Batman begins. Get it?

Batman #152 is due Sept. 4 and this cardstock variant lists for $5.99.

  2. Strange concept considering that West detested Miller’s Dark Knight.

    • Gotta agree with you there. From a design point, there seems to be a lot of negative space too. Then again I’m not the market being targeted by modern comics and their covers. Give me a good old trade dress heavy cover of the 60s/70s any day. Throw in some floating heads…
