The other day we showed off 13 GROOVY BRONZE AGE DC COMICS HOSTESS ADS — a small fraction of the more than 350 such advertisements that were spread among five comics publishers from 1975 to 1982. (Click here. You’ll love it.)
But we’re a full-service website, so we want to bring you the other side of the Big Two: 13 GROOVY BRONZE AGE MARVEL HOSTESS ADS.
In their own way, they’re even wackier than the DC ones because they tend to lean more on the details of the Marvel Universe, which makes for some wonderfully campy moments.
For example, the Cosmic Cube gets distracted by… Twinkies?! Yep. Check out that Captain America entry.
And of course, if you’re going to have a run of Spidey strips, Aunt May’s gotta be kidnapped sooner or later, am I right?
So crack open a box of your favorite snack cakes and dig these 13 GROOVY BRONZE AGE MARVEL HOSTESS ADS:

There were a surprising number of Captain Marvel ads. This is just one of them.

Look! Wendigo AND the Abomination AND Fruit Pies!

Hey, even Nick Fury makes an appearance!

This might be the best layout of them all.

These print ads are SUPER-groovy!

Is there any place to see who drew which ads? Some are obvious (Andru and Esposito on Spidey, for example) but some, such as Capt Marvel are a hard to recognize.

“Kwirkegard?” LOL!!! I remember some of these back in the day; including the days when I was in college and would walk down to the local convenience store for comic books and delicious Hostess Fruit Pies! (OMG! I sound like an ad!)
