Buncha thoughts:

— I invited our pal Paul Kupperberg to weigh in on this one because it is such a big deal in Superhistory: “Among the classic Superman stories of the Silver Age, “Superman’s Return to Krypton!” stands out for giving readers something they had never seen before: a genuine look at Krypton as a living world instead of as a lost memory.
“Writer Jerry Siegel and artist Wayne Boring transformed Superman’s origin from a simple tragedy into a personal history, allowing him—and us—to walk the streets of the planet he never knew.
“More than 60 years later, the story remains one of the cornerstones of Superman mythology, influencing countless later explorations of Krypton across comics, television, and film… not to mention my own 1979 World Of Krypton miniseries!”
— Obligatory Price Comparison: An unslabbed original in decent shape recently sold on eBay for a bit over $45, though you can find it for less.
