That’s right — five, count em, five! —  simian-packed days of trips to the Forbidden Zone with an expert cast of tour guides!

We couldn’t raise Charles Heston (as my father-in-law calls him) from the grave, but we do have:

Our very own Zira, Planet of the Apes comics writer Corinna Sara Bechko! Seriously! She’s got a zoology degree and has studied simians! She’ll be providing not only her own picks for the Best and Silliest moments in Apes lore, but an awesome set of interviews with actual, real-life primatologists about what they think about those damn, dirty movie apes! It’s awesome!

Writer-artist Gabriel Hardman, our very own Cornelius! He’s got a bunch of fancy sketches to show off! Plus his own list of Best and Worst moments!

Then there’s Rich “the Lawgiver” Handley, one of the world’s pre-eminent POTA experts, writers and historians, who’ll tell us all about the Greatest Apes Comics That Never Were But Were Published In A Divergent Timeline That Would Make Your Head Explode If You Thought About it Too Hard!

  1. When I was a kid me and my brothers spent a whole day at the Brook theatre in brooklyn watching all 5 ape films in a row. Was a wonderful day in my life. Just wanted to throw that out there.

    • Even better was Apes Week on the old 4:30 Movie on Channel 7/ABC here in New York. It was on at least once a year. Schedule was Planet of the Apes on Monday and Tuesday, Beneath on Wednesday, Escape on Thursday, and Conquest on Friday, all heavily edited.

I always looked forward to that week — a special after-school treat!

    • Hey, same for me in Smithtown, it was epic, and we walked home at 11:30pm or so.
