13 SUPERMAN COVERS to Celebrate MIRACLE MONDAY

It’s the third Monday in May!

I don’t know who created this but the art is by Greg Smallwood.

Today is Miracle Monday, a holiday that occurs the third Monday in May, and was invented by writer Elliot S! Maggin in his 1981 novel of the same name.

How to celebrate? Well, read the novel! Or do anything Superman! Like check out this 13 COVERS gallery featuring two versions of the book’s cover; an annual showcasing time traveler Kristin Wells, who was introduced in the novel; and a bunch from 1981.

  1. I still have that original paperback of “Miracle Monday.” It’s a riff on Maggin’s “The Miracle Of Thirsty Thursday” from Superman 293 which appeared (my gosh!) fifty years ago! I actually like the comics story a lot better!

  2. 2 books does not a series make. Was there a plan for more? I wish there had been. And, that cover calling to the year 2020. Oooh the future. Happy MM everyone!

  3. That second Miracle Monday cover is pretty tame.

  4. So much to unpack here. This was the era of Superman where I had “forgiven” him for being infinitely powerful. I guess I was finally old enough to appreciate the art, plotting, and scripting and enjoy the ride. Previously, I didn’t want Superman comics at all because I felt like there was no challenge for him.

    Damn good comics:

    Superman 2020

    Kristen Wells

Action Plus with Air Wave, Atom, Aquaman

    Whatever Happened To _____ ?

    Andru, Giordano, Buckler

    Even Neutron!
