THE HUMAN TORCH, THE THING, DOCTOR STRANGE AND NICK FURY: Another salute to Marvel’s split series of the ’60s…
Paul Kupperberg wrote a great column earlier this month about 1968 and 13 WAYS it was a remarkable, watershed year for comics. I highly recommend it — and you can check it out here.
Mini-spoiler: One of his 13 entries noted the end of Marvel’s split books, series like Tales of Suspense, Tales to Astonish and Strange Tales, which were double features because of limitations on the number of titles the company could publish each month.
So, I thought, hey — let’s do 13 COVERS on each of these books! And here we are, with Strange Tales. Two weeks ago, it was Tales of Suspense, starring Iron Man and Captain America. (Click here.) Last week, it was Tales to Astonish, with Sub-Mariner, the Hulk and Giant-Man. (Click here.)
Right on.

Um, if the Human Torch is already there, isn’t it guest starring “the Fantastic Three”? 😉
