13 SPLASH PAGES: A NORM BREYFOGLE Birthday Celebration

The late fan-favorite artist was born 63 years ago…

The late Norm Breyfogle — born 63 years ago on Feb. 27, 1960 — was one of the most beloved Batman artists since the end of the Bronze Age. (I personally consider his work to be Bronze Age-Plus, but hey.)

Anyway, we’ve run many tributes to Breyfogle over the years, mostly focusing on covers and stories. This year? Splash pages — namely from Detective Comics, which he joined in 1987.

Dig these:

Issue #613, Page 12. Steve Mitchell inks.

Issue #593, Page 18. Mitchell inks

Issue #588, Page 22. Not technically a splash page, but who cares? It’s awesome!

Issue #606, Page 19. Mitchell inks.

Issue #591

Issue #610, Page 22. Mitchell inks.

Issue #613

Issue #606

Issue #600. Pin-up.

Issue #603, Page 9. Mitchell inks.

Issue #605

Issue #611, Page 20. Mitchell inks.

Issue #614, Page 22. Mitchell inks. Batman smiles!
