The late cartoonist was born 60 years ago…

The late, great Darwyn Cooke was born 60 years ago on Nov. 16, 1962.

Among his many accomplishments in his too-short career was his revamp of Catwoman with writer Ed Brubaker and inker Mike Allred.

So here are 13 GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS of Cooke’s Feline Fatale — covers, spreads, panels and splash pages — from 2001-02’s critically acclaimed Catwoman #1-4. (Cooke left the ongoing after that.)

  1. While not a fan of that take on Catwoman, there is no denying the talent Darwyn had.

  2. I loved Darwyn’s & Brubaker’s reboot of Catwoman – they revolutionized the character. “Selina’s Big Score” is one of my favorite graphic novels and would make an excellent film. I was fortunate to meet Darwyn Cooke…a comic genius who left us far too soon.
