Helluva week for Super-birthdays! On Sunday — the first day of SUPERMAN WEEK — it was John Byrne. Now, it’s the late Murphy Anderson, who was born 99 years ago, on July 9, 1926.

Anderson was one of the most respected artists in the Silver Age and Bronze Ages in his own right, but his considerable inking talents were paired with Curt Swan’s pencils — they were nicknamed “Swanderson” — to create what some view as the definitive Man of Steel.

So here are 13 SWANDERSON COVERS from the flagship title (except for one) for SUPERMAN WEEK:

    • Boy, you are right. And it’s one of Infantino’s most famous too. That’s what happens when you do things with such, ahem, speed. Fixed!
