13 COVERS: The GREEN LANTERN of BILL FINGER

A BIRTHDAY TRIBIUTE: Batman who?

Bill Finger, by far best known as the writer who co-created Batman and was responsible for much of his world-building, was born 109 years ago on Feb. 8, 1914.

Normally, we’d do a birthday tribute involving the Caped Crusader but Finger accomplished more than that: Among other things, he also collaborated with Martin Nodell on the creation of Green Lantern and was Alan Scott’s primary writer for his first few years. (He even co-created Doiby Dickles, though the famous “In brightest day…” oath was written by Alfred Bester, who improved on an earlier saying.)

So dig these 13 COVERS featuring lead GL stories written by Finger. I’ve picked All-American Comics because that’s where Green Lantern first appeared, in 1940’s Issue #16.

Right on.
