13 COVERS: The Bronze Age Marvel Horror of LARRY LIEBER

A BIRTHDAY SALUTE: One of the last living links to the Marvel Age turns 94…

Larry Lieber, born Oct. 26, 1931, is turning 94. As both a writer and artist, and brother of Stan Lee, he’s one of the last living creators who was active in comics’ early days. Lieber’s career started in the Golden Age, but became more prominent in Marvel’s Silver and Bronze Ages (even more so with his brief stint at Marvel knockoff Atlas-Seaboard).

Since it’s Halloween week, this 13 COVERS birthday salute features his work on Marvel’s 1970s (mostly) reprint horror titles.

Far out.

  2. Wow. What great covers! These make me want to read these stories right now!

I didnt read a lot of the horror comics – even though I loved those old horror tales.

Funds were limited so I focused on my favorites. But wow! These look great.

  3. This is an outstanding example of the difference an inker can make to an artist’s pencils. Tom Palmer’s inks are incredible over Larry’s pencils.
