I noted the other day that a lot of great artists were born this time of year. In the last couple of weeks we’ve been privileged to honor, for example, Marie Severin, Gene Colan and Robert Crumb.

Add Walt Simonson to the list. His birthday is 9/2.

I mention this because Kirby and Simonson are the greatest of Thor artists. Kirby co-created him. Simonson perfected him.
