Jack Kirby would have been 99. We try something a little different.
—
The King was born Aug. 28, 1917. Next year will be his centennial. Between now and then, expect a veritable metric ton of tributes and remembrances and whatnot.
What do you do for 99, though? Zig instead of zag.
Over the next three days, we’re going to present 13 COVERS — from the Golden, Silver and Bronze ages. But instead of the same-ol’, same-ol’, we’re going for some of the deep cuts, the covers you don’t always see. Sure, to Kirby obsessives plenty of them will be familiar, I’m sure. But to most others, these go beyond the the obvious.
Here then, we begin with 13 COVERS: JACK KIRBY’S OFFBEAT GOLDEN AGE.
