Mort Todd is the chief keeper of the Charlton flame, a shaman of the obscure, a cultured cultivator of comics for the cognoscenti.
Right now, Mort’s got a pretty nifty Kickstarter going — an eight-volume set of books featuring Charlton covers from the original stats, broken down in four basic categories: Love, War, Western and Weird. That’s hundreds of covers.

Since they’re scanned from the original stats, they’re all in clean black and white, featuring art by the likes of Steve Ditko, Matt Baker, Sam Glanzman and Joe Sinnott. Mostly, however, you’ll find the work of Dick Giordano, one of my all-time faves.
Now here’s the deal: The Kickstarter is funded. And that’s great. That means this project is a go. But now it’s stretch time and there are all sorts of ways you can get in on this project by the 10/28 deadline.
Oh, and one more thing: Taffy! As in Bonomo Turkish Taffy. The candy company had a relationship with Charlton back in the day and Mort and his merry Charltonphiles are tapping into that by including bars of depending on your pledge level.
